Understanding Family Mode

SunUp's Family Mode recognizes a fundamental problem with generic UV apps: one number doesn't protect a family. Your 7-year-old with very fair skin (Type I) and your husband with olive skin (Type IV) face radically different UV risks standing on the same beach at the same UV Index. Family Mode allows you to create individual profiles for each family member, each with their own skin type, age range, and activity preferences. When you switch to a family member's profile, every dashboard reading, safe time calculation, and recommendation becomes personalized for them.

Try it in the app:

From the SunUp main screen, navigate to the Profile section. Look for "Family" or "Add Member."

Pro tip:

You can have unlimited family profiles in SunUp. Create one for elderly parents, children, and even friends you frequently do outdoor activities with.
